This is why the Bush admin was voted in… complete ignorance. Amazing that the most advanced nation on the planet can be filled with so many idiots… I work in an “advanced academic” institution most people here would get these questions wrong as well.
My conclusion is as long as people have their reality T.V., fast-food, video games, football they don’t give a fuck about anything and back killing anybody who threatens that.
Amazing! Americans are NOT stupid - WITH SUBTITLES

I saw this video a long time ago and I think it is both funny and tragic, but it doesn’t say much about America or Americans. You could get answers like these in any country all over the world. The fact fo the matter is that most people don’t really care, need to care or have the luxury to care about whats going on in the world. People are ignorant. That is a simple truth. For the most part people live in their own little niche within a larger niche which is with in a larger niche and so on. It seems hard to believe that people can know so little about the questions that were asked of them, but if you went to the right part of Australia you would get equally ignorant answers.
I don’t know what you meant by “andvanced academic” institution so will assume you meant a college. If these questions were asked on the campus of the college I attended, the interviewers would be hard pressed to find very ignorant answers.
Furthermore, the same people were shown over and over again in this video. How many people did they need to ask to get the footage they wanted? It seems to me that this was setup to make Americans look stupid and they were going to get the footage they needed to make that possible.

Hi Adam,
No it’s a University and the average education level in my group is PhD level or working on it…
I have seen a video produced by the CBC called “Talking to Americans” where they went to Harvard and asked similar questions and had similar answers. I will try to dig it up and post this week. I truly believe Americans just do not give a shit. I know there is a big resistance to this military action but that is only 50% of the US and of the 50% resisting what percent actually know the facts?

I’m an American, and an avid news junkie, and I’ve only heard the phrase “Coalition of the Willing” a couple of times. I’m not even sure who it includes anymore. Bush rarely ever mentions our allies when speaking in the US.

I think the original list (before invasion) included:
Afghanistan, Albania, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Colombia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, El Salvador, Eritrea, Estonia, Ethiopia, Georgia, Hungary, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, the Netherlands, Nicaragua, the Philippines, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom and Uzbekistan.
Not sure who is “willing” now….

“Comone you have to know where the Berlin wall was ”
Sure, if you know Berlin is a place.
True that every country has stupid people in abundance, but i) given this is the wealthiest country with huge resources to give to education, and ii) a country with the power to shake the world ….
